Can you save TikTok Video in the gallery?

Certainly! You can save a TikTok video to your device’s gallery by adjusting settings within your TikTok account, particularly by enabling the ‘save to device’ option.

However, there’s a crucial requirement to save the video: it must be uploaded. Without uploading, saving becomes nearly impossible. But there’s a workaround for this issue too. Upload the video in “Private” mode.

In Private mode, only the video’s creator (you) can view it, even after it’s uploaded on TikTok.

By making specific adjustments in the posting section of your TikTok account—primarily by activating the ‘save to device’ option and uploading the video in private—you can ultimately save the video to your gallery after the upload process is completed.

How To Save TikTok Draft Video In Gallery:

Now, let’s go through the steps to save a TikTok draft video in the gallery. These steps apply to both Android and iOS. Follow along:

Step 1: Open TikTok & Tap to Create a video

The initial step is to launch the TikTok app on your device and log in to your account if you haven’t done so already. Once logged in, create a video to add it to the draft folder and subsequently upload it privately to save it in the gallery.

Upon logging in, you’ll land on the home screen, displaying videos uploaded by users you follow. At the bottom of this screen, you’ll find a row of options including home, discover, +, info, and more.

To create a new video, tap on the “+” icon or select the “Tap to create video” prompt displayed just above the + icon on the screen. Then, begin recording your video. If you already have a video saved in the draft folder, you can skip this step.

Step 2: Then record the video & tap on ‘Tick’

Upon selecting “Tap to create a video,” the video recording interface will appear. To commence recording, gently press and hold the prominent red circle button positioned at the bottom center of the screen. Capture the video according to your preferences.

On the right side of the video recording screen, various options are available. These options allow you to incorporate filters, text, and edit the recorded video. After finishing the recording, proceed with the editing. Finally, click on the red “Tick” icon located at the bottom right corner.

On the subsequent screen, you can add songs if desired using the available option. To proceed further, tap the “Next” button, leading you to the ‘Post’ tab.

Step 3: Enable the > ‘Save to device’

Next, you’ll land on the “Post” tab, where the recorded video will be positioned in the top right corner. Beneath it, you’ll find several options to adjust settings if needed.

To save the video after uploading, you must activate the “Save to device” option, situated at the bottom. Simply tap the toggle to switch ON the “Save to device” option.

Enabling this option ensures that the video you’ve just recorded will be automatically saved to your device’s gallery after being uploaded to your account.

This step is crucial, especially for those who have already added the video to the draft. If your video is in the draft section, tap on it to open it in the post tab and then enable the “Save to device” option. Follow these steps accordingly if your video is already in the draft section.

Step 4: Set ‘Who can view the video’ > ‘Private’

Next, within the ‘Post’ tab, locate and click on the “Who can view the video” option. This feature empowers you to designate the audience for the upcoming video upload.

Essentially, you’re presented with three choices: Followers (visible to those who follow you), Friends (followers you mutually follow), and Private (visible only to you).

In your scenario, where the intent is to save the video without uploading, select “Private.” By choosing Private mode, even after the upload, the video will only be visible to you.

To do this, simply tap on “Who can view the video” and opt for “Private.”

Step 5: Then tap on > ‘Post’

After configuring all the essential settings to save the video—enabling ‘save to device’ and setting the viewing to ‘Private’—finally, tap the red “Post” button situated at the bottom right corner of the post tab.

The video is now uploaded on TikTok under private mode, meaning only you have access to watch this uploaded video. Additionally, a notification will appear on the screen confirming the upload of a ‘Private video.’

Step 6: Then open the video

The video has been successfully uploaded in private mode. Now, navigate to your profile page, where all posted videos are displayed, and locate the “Lock” icon positioned at the center. Within this ‘Lock’ section, you’ll find videos uploaded in private mode, accessible exclusively by you.

Simply click on the ‘lock’ icon, and the recently uploaded video in private mode will appear. Tap on that specific video to open it.

Step 7: Tap on ‘three-dots’ > then ‘Save video’

Towards the right side of the video, closer to the end, you’ll spot a ‘Three-dot’ icon. Click on this icon to reveal a menu of options, including the choice to save the video.

Select “Save Video” from the options menu that appears after tapping the “Three-dot” icon. This action will save the video directly into your device’s gallery.
